According to reports, Santokh was participating in the Bharat Jodo Yotra. He was one of the top leaders who welcomed Rahul Gandhi as he entered Jalandhar district.

According to reports, Santokh died Sunday, January 15, 2023. His family, friends, and loved ones were left in deep grief and sorrow.

According to official reports Santokh Chaudhary suffered cardiac arrest at the 76-year-old age. this sad news occurred when Santokh Chaudhary was participating in Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra,

It happened on Saturday 14/01 morning. The yatra was suspended because Gandhi was walking with him. The yatra began from Phillaur and ended at 8:45 a.m. on National Highway 44. The yatra was stopped for the remainder of the day.

Gandhi expressed shock at the sudden death of the two-term party member  The death of Santokh S. Chaudhary is one of the most significant hiccups of the Congress Bharat Jodo Yatra, Punjab.

After suffering a heart attack, the 76-year old MP from Jalandhar died. At the Virk Hospital in Phagwara, he was declared deceased.

The yatra, which is currently underway, was temporarily halted for one day. According to reports, the party will resume its march tomorrow from Khalsa College.

Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader, visited the family of the ailing stalwart on Saturday.


Many leaders, including Capt Amarinder Singh have expressed their sorrow at the passing of the hardworking Congress MP. Amarinder, who was the chief minister of the state between 2013 and 2017, sent a touching message to the departed politician.

Chaudhary, who was the party’s vice president national, was with Rahul Gandhi during the yatra the day before his death.

He fell ill while attempting to reach the Goraya district of the Phillaur district. He was taken to the Virk Hospital, Phagwara. His condition worsened. Some of the top state officials attended his funeral upon his death.

The Phillaur district has suspended the yatra for one day. The Punjab leg started Wednesday at Sirhind, in the Fatehgarh Sahib region.

The procession included Mahatma Gandhi, former chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi, and many other senior leaders.


Jaspreet Singh, the Deputy Commissioner of Punjab laid wreaths in Jalandhar on behalf of Punjab chief minister. This was the first such event in the city.
