He was believed to have died alone, according to police.  Sources say that his body was discovered in his hotel room by staff from Vancouver’s Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel. According to reports, the 31-year old had gone out with friends the night before and was left behind by his girlfriend, Lea Michele.

Monteith was an adult who had suffered from substance abuse since childhood. Monteith confessed in an interview that he had a history avoiding school to use drugs. Before his death, Monteith was in rehabilitation.

Justin Neill, his co-star, expressed hope for his recovery. His final weeks were fraught with questions. Cory’s girlfriend Lea Michele released a statement following his death. She stated that she was proud that he sought help. She has been thinking of Cory ever since.

Monteith’s autopsy revealed that he was using heroin and alcohol at his time of death. His room contained two empty champagne bottles. He had gone out earlier that day with friends but returned to his bedroom before check-out.

At the age of 13, he started skipping class and began to use drugs. Monteith was 19 when he sought treatment. Monteith starred on several shows including Sisters & Brothers and Monte Carlo. He was also the host of Teen Choice Awards.

Cory Monteith was fighting demons and that he spend three months in rehab where he sadly, passed away. Sources confirm that after failing to check out his room on the 21st floor, on July 13, 2013.
